Step 1: It all starts with the clear identification of the job or position title youโre targeting next.
Step 2: Delve into 5-10 job listings that match your desired position, gaining a deep understanding of their responsibilities.
Step 3: Scrutinize each job listing meticulously, analyzing the tasks, skills, and projects they outline.
Step 4: Create a list of the top 10 skills essential for the role based on the job descriptions.
Step 5: Jot down the 5 key projects or tasks that stand out in the job listings.
Step 6: Organize your findings within a Word document or Google sheet for comprehensive analysis.
Step 7: Extend your research to encompass the job descriptions of your current and past roles.
Step 8: Apply the same process to each of your previous roles to identify relevant skills, tasks, and projects.
Step 9: For each prior role, pinpoint commonalities in skills, tasks, and projects that align with your target position.
Step 10: Document these similarities, ensuring a strong connection between your past experiences and the desired position.
Step 11: Begin crafting your bullet points to showcase how your past experience aligns with your target position.
Step 12: Start each bullet point with a powerful action verb to demonstrate your ownership of the tasks and projects.
