Are robots taking over the resume writing industry?

As a job seeker, you might be tempted to use AI-powered resume copywriting. Resist the urge and hire a human.

The idea of AI-powered resume copywriting is exciting. It promises to offer job seekers a smarter, more effective way to reach hiring managers through writing their resumes. The reality? Well, we’re not so sure.

While automation is not going anywhere, I’m always an advocate of having the human touch still when it comes to resume writing.

No software can output statements that are personal and customized for each client.

Sure, they can take a bunch of canned statements and weave in the most specific to the targeted role of the client, but that won’t have as much of an effect when it’s been done by a professional…human.

AI-powered resume copywriting is not the right way to approach your job search.

The AI clouds don’t have thematic context, and it will read your resume as literal text with no regard to intent or tone.

AI-powered resume copywriting is not a good thing. It will only make you sound like too-good-to-be-true, and worse, you’ll sound like a bot.

Again, we’re still in the infancy stage in terms of AI, so eventually, the “robots” may replace us resume writers for good, but I think we’re still a long way away.

I get it, automation streamlines so many parts of our lives.

But when livelihoods are at stake when being determined by a group of hiring managers, I think it’s important to spend an investment on an IRL resume writer.

Plus, lots of job seekers still want the human-centric, hands-on approach.
