Are you considering a career change? Here’s how to start working at it today!

Are you considering a career change? Maybe a completely new career trajectory? Maybe thinking about how to maximize your time while still employed so you can make that leap into something new?

Trying to figure out where to start?

I’m a firm believer that we should work smarter, not harder.

To emulate those that went before you, and once you’ve mastered that, to make it your own.

To not reinvent the wheel.

When we’re tasked with ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity in our daily lives, why not use that notion and apply it to your own professional journey?

I like telling my clients to observe those individuals that are already doing the work they want to do and reverse engineer their story to dilute the possible avenues to upskill and grow.

Literally head over to their LinkedIn profile, start at the bottom and work your way up.

✅ Figure out what skills (endorsements) they have.

✅ Figure out what associations they joined.

✅ Figure out what certifications they have.

✅ Figure out what they studied.

✅ Figure out whom they associate with the most and join in on the discussion.

✅ Figure out where they started when they were first embarking on their professional life.

✅ Figure out the moves they made during tenure, including company, industry, and role.

Start to build a complete profile picture of an ideal professional and start plugging your own gaps.

Possibly even reach out to this person, offer some value, strike up a conversation; they could be your next mentor.

I was on a fantastic webinar hosted by Steve Cadigan, and he said the following, which really resonated with me:

🔮A career is a series of experiments

🦉This is about building a foundation and network

🔮In every job, you should be finding more about what you do well and enjoy the most, and working towards that

🦉There is more than one career dream job out there for you

So if you’re in a rut. Bored. Broken. Tired. Eager to take that leap of faith…remember, you’ve got a lot of talent and “careers” inside of you. It’s your job to let it out.

🔥 Go be great.

What are some tactics you recognize as being helpful when identifying your next move in your career journey? Chime in over here.
