Here was today’s word: Autotelic

adjective: Having a purpose, motivation, or meaning in itself; not driven by external factors.

This word of the day really resonated with me. Remind me of where I was when I began my business over a decade ago, and where I am today.

I used to be about how can I make a stance in this industry, how can I generate client volume, what can I do to improve each day? And while this all still applies, my entire approach was not aligned properly.

I figured out it wasn’t about the “business” as much as the interaction, communication, and genuine relationship building with my clients and colleagues, and not just the idea, but action of wanting to help people out is what I’m in business for.

Of course marketing and earning a living matter, but the business is dictated by me now, not the other way around, and that allows me to stick to this action.
