Blast From The Past Post!

 

📸 *Cue the flashback to my freshman year at John Carroll University* — a blast from the past look back at the days of bad haircuts, questionable fashion choices, and, in my case, a little cameo in the local college newspaper. The paper ran a series called “Question of the Week,” and the question was simple: “What is your goal for the year?” Well, my buddy Mooney and I were both interviewed, and there we were, plastered in the paper with our headshots and quotes for all to see.

👉 My answer? “To not get kicked out.” 😂

Yep, that was my big ambition at 18 — just to make it through the year without any major catastrophes. Pretty high aspirations, huh? I wasn’t aiming for the stars; I was just trying to survive, make it to my classes on time, and avoid any academic disasters. But hey, sometimes setting the bar low makes it easier to exceed expectations!

🎓 Fast forward a few years, and somehow, against all odds, I managed to stick around, graduate, and even find my college sweetheart. A few more years down the line, and I’ve got two amazing kids, a cozy home, and a handful of rental properties (thanks to my real estate hustle). Oh, and did I mention the part-time acting gigs? Yeah, life took some pretty unexpected turns!

💼 Now, I’m 15 years deep into a thriving career coaching business, helping others not just survive but thrive in their careers. From resume rewrites to interview prep, I’ve gone from “not getting kicked out” to helping others kick off their dream jobs.

So, what’s the moral of the story? Aim low, and you might just surprise yourself with how far you go! 😜 Just kidding (kind of). Sometimes, it’s those small, seemingly insignificant moments—like a goofy newspaper quote—that end up being part of a much bigger journey. And let me tell you, it’s been one heck of a ride!

Here’s to all the freshman out there who might not know exactly where they’re headed. Sometimes, just hanging in there is all you need to set the stage for something truly great.🤘
