🙋‍♂️ Luis came to me as a Finance Sales Director with Kärcher North America Inc. and seeking a controllership role.

💥 Well, it worked!

💥 Luis published an intuitive post that also offered a kudos to me, his resume writer, out of nowhere, which I just had to share! He landed a Controller role with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits! Way to go, Luis! But it doesn’t stop there! His post garnered 850 reactions and 92 comments, which helped me to say the least, lol! And for that, I thank you Luis for doing that thoughtful act for a SMB owner in the human services business. I hope to have many more of these, but will always remember this one in particular. “Offer received and accepted!!! Details to come in a future post. It’s been 5 months and close to 200 applications, 30 interviews, 4 final round of interviews and one offer, which is taking me back to an industry I love and that gave me the best years of my career, thus far. Though it felt longer, I feel very fortunate to have landed a position. In this time, I have read many a story and connected with people that have been unemployed for 12, even 18 months. Some have lost homes, significant others, 401k’s and a lot of self-respect and confidence. As such, I’d like to share my pointers for a “more” successful job search, in hopes that they are useful to others: 3. Research and ask recommendations for a resume writer. Mine was a few years old and formatting and styles have changed quite a bit. Don’t spend a fortune on it, though. I used the same person who did it initially and he gave me a repeat customer discount. I received a few compliments about it during the interviews, so you know that was working. I recommend Matt “Magic” Warzel, CPRW, CIR . Do the same with your LinkedIn profile, add a professional looking head shot and clean up the dates and accomplishments of your prior roles. It’s up to you to use the “open to work” banner. Some people call it the “banner of desperation” and are against it. I personally stopped using it a couple of months ago.”
