πββοΈ John came to me as the Deputy Chief of Police for the Richmond Police Department. He was seeking a role in the federal space as a Law Enforcement, Homeland Security, and Public Safety Leader.
The resolutions we provided were:
π Finding a format that resonates with his new targeted role.
π Building up his transferable law enforcement, homeland security, and public safety leadership skills, methodologies, KPIs, and wins.
π Improved messaging so readers know what he was trying to do and what value he can offer.
π More skills that are ATS compliant so he can stand out in a highly competitive industry and role.
π Elevated experience section so he demonstrated more accomplishments, value offerings, and metrics over tasks.
π The proper layout and format (in order) including a Summary, Key Skills/Technical Aptitude, Accomplishments, Experience, Education, Certification/Training, Affiliation, and Volunteerism.
π₯ Well, it worked!
π₯ John sent me this wonderful note after I followed up to see how his job hunt was going, which I just had to share! He accepted a new leadership role with the Department of Defense (DoD)! Way to go John!
“Thanks for checking in on me, yes I applied to (6) jobs and got (3) interviews, I was offered a position close to home with DoD and just completed my first month. I greatly appreciate all of your help and expertise! Many of my former peers/ colleagues are desperately attempting to flee the law enforcement profession in the Richmond area and beyond (it’s unfortunate), but I have forwarded your info out to many of them, along with a strong recommendation of your services and responsiveness, hopefully, some will seek out your assistance! Take care and have a great weekend!”
