I’ll admit. My business isn’t glamorous.
Very rarely do we have brand advocates as a resume writer and career coach.
Sure, we have wonderful clients that preach our solutions to their network. Once the network mentions the need.
There always has to be an ask before someone usually word-of-mouths my services.
I’m not a fun shiny iPhone you tell everyone about as you post a photo of you holding the new 2022 SE.
I’m not a fun major sports team that has droves of fans clamoring all day about my successes and failures.
I’m not a fun, brand new car you’ve been saving up for over a 2-year span and now pose next to with excitement.
I create marketing documents. I help brand others. I teach people to be effective, resourceful, and efficient on their job hunt, from soup (resumes, LinkedIn networking, etc.) to nuts (interviewing, salary negotiations, etc.).
But I do make a difference in people’s lives nonetheless.
I impact people’s livelihoods.
I am a change agent.
Some say we’re in the Human Resources industry.
I say we’re in the Human Services business.
We provide a service to humans to help them progress in life. Important stuff.
So when Charlie sent me this random message out of the blue, I have to be honest, it made my day.
My content is resonating with people.
My content is motivating others.
My content is that spark to ignite action towards what may be the next path on someone’s career journey.
I’m proud of what I do. I’m happy with my career. I love helping others.
Like my old high school (Cleveland St. Ignatius) motto, and the motto of the Society of Jesus, AMDG.
A Latin acronym for Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (“For the Greater Glory of God”).
There I was taught to be a man for others. I choose to be a man for others, every day.
Follow me along. Maybe some nuggets of insight might stick. Let’s go make some impacts!
“Thanks Matt for accepting my invite! I have been following you for some time and I really enjoyed your posts. You have given me inspiration during my career search / change! Thanks for all you do! Cheers.”
