Did you know I once got to work with Steven Spielberg!?! The greatest film director of all time!?

Well, not personally, but he did produce Under the Dome, a short-lived sci-fi TV series on CBS that lasted a couple of seasons. And guess what? I managed to land a gig as “Whistling Miller” on the show!

Now as you may have read in a previous post about the odds an actor books a gig and the thousands of rejections we receive over a lifetime of auditioning, there is something beautiful about when the odds bleed over into favoring you.

Did I want to quit when I hadn’t booked a gig in 4 years? Nah, but I was damn near close.

Did I want to yell at the casting directors? Nah, they provide me opportunities. And it’s not their fault if the director wants a certain look or style.

Did I want to blame others for not having a “working actor” lifestyle? Sometimes…but you know what? None of that $hit helps.

The only thing that helps is picking yourself back up from off the ground, dusting off your best character costumes, and getting back to the work. The networking, the callbacks, the productions, the writing, the panels…whatever it takes, consume yourself in it, and good things will come.

And like my quote, success is truly manifested by belief, strategy, communication, and hard work. Belief keeps the lights on.”

Here’s another post about my resilience to make a full-length feature film comedy and land distribution…which I did! NBD! Damn near killed me, LOL.
