Hey Google, I Already Knew This!

5 pieces of resume writing advice they came up with:

1. Basic formatting – KISS (keep it super simple)
2. Customization – tailor it to the job description
3. XYZ formula – cause and effect style, show impacts!
4. Advanced formatting – the layout
5. Technical peeps – what should y’all show off?

All of these basic ideas are what I preach constantly to my clients. Over 20 years at this game, I’m glad I stayed up with the times. This isn’t “casual” or a “side hustle”… this is how I put food on the table for my wife and 2 kids. Some perspective when you’re shopping around for the cheapest. YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET.

Don’t trust a “guru” who reads an article like this and acts like an SME. Being a professional means paying your dues, constantly learning, and making the product better for the customer. I pride myself on being the best at resume writing and love the trenches where I get to work each day. How are you being perceived by those words on your page? Better make sure you’re playing the game, and playing it correctly.
