How Can You Tell If A Job Posting Is Bunk?

𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁—𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Look, having done this for 21 years, I can say that I am an expert at translating your brain into business value. Not fluff. Not buzzwords. Just clarity that converts.

🚨 So just how do you know when a job opening is bunk? Here are 7 quick gut-checks to protect yourself from scammers:

1️⃣ Too good to be true?
If the salary is wildly high for the role, and they barely ask for experience—🚩🚩🚩

2️⃣ They ask you to pay for something.
Legit jobs don’t ask for money upfront for “training,” equipment, or background checks. If they do, close the tab and walk away. 🧾💸❌

3️⃣ Weird email domains.
If you’re getting messages from Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo accounts instead of a company email (like @companyname.com), be suspicious. 📧🧐

4️⃣ No interview? No go.
Real companies will always want to meet you—virtually or in person. If they offer you a job without talking to you first, red flag! 🎤🚫

5️⃣ The listing is vague or full of errors.
Typos, odd grammar, no clear job title or responsibilities? That’s a copy-paste scam special. 📝😬

6️⃣ Pressure to act fast.
Scammers love to rush you. If they say “You must reply in 24 hours” or “This offer expires today,” pump the brakes. 🛑⏳

7️⃣ Google is your best friend.
Search the company. Look them up on LinkedIn. Check reviews on Glassdoor. No footprint? No thank you. 🕵️‍♀️🔍

👉 Bottom line: You deserve to find a real job with real pay, not get played.
