I Minted My First NFT

NFT. You know, Non-Fungible Tokens.

🎬 So as some of you know, as mentioned in previous posts, I moonlight as a filmmaker and actor.

🎬 I worked my a$$ off to write, produce, and star in a feature-length comedy film, titledΒ π˜‹π˜’π˜π˜¦ 𝘈𝘳𝘀𝘩π˜₯𝘒𝘭𝘦 (and collect all 250+ props, find all 10+ locations, land a recognized film star, etc). This $hit was hard. Like one of the hardest things I’ve ever accomplished.

🎬 You can read more about my experience (and film life) by clicking here.

🎬 Then, after 7 years of painful post-production with many unforeseen obstacles, I was fortunate enough to land a North American distribution deal.

🎬 This. Is. A. Huge. Deal. For. Indy. Filmmakers.

🎬 Some spend millions of dollars on producing a film for it to collect dust on a dresser.

🎬 I spent around $65K (and quasi-counting). Not bad for a 90-minute film with 200+ actors, 5 animals, 5-10 child actors, etc.

So this NFT thing.

πŸ‘‰ I decided to try out minting one for myself, as a way to market the feature film and get some more eyeballs on rentals, digital downloads, or DVD sales (which, if you want to watch the film, can be accessed here).

πŸ‘‰ Don’t get me wrong. NFT minting is not for the faint of heart. Not entirely hard to do, but the financials behind it are somewhat chaotic.

πŸ‘‰ We’re talking fluctuating by the minute Ethereum gas prices, converting checkings into USD into ETH, learning about Gwei counts, and enrolling into Meta Mask (I have 4 wallets now!).

πŸ‘‰ While I haven’t dropped the NFT yet (working through a monetary conversion), I’m excited to see what traction it may get. I’m going to use Zora to premiere the first of hopefully many drops as part of the Dale Archdale collection.

πŸ‘‰ Check out my Zora page to monitor the drop (hoping this weekend, early next week depending on that gas thing).

Chime in over here, drop some chatter.
