My take:
Matthew Warzel, president of MJW Careers, states that the uncertainty and frustration of job hunting today explains why rituals can become so attractive. The purchase of a spell usually happens after candidates feel they have exhausted all conventional options.
Spells to get a job tend to follow a similar format: a person requests a certain power in advance (such as normal or powerful) and then sends information, including their date of birth and sometimes a photograph.
Interestingly, the ritual itself can be more important than whether the spell works or not. If a ritual helps someone feel more confident, optimistic, or motivated to keep trying every day, that can have real psychological value, even if the spell itself isn’t what’s changing the outcome,” says Matthew Warzel
