Follow-ups are essential Andrew! Great insight by the way! I always tell my clients to send a follow-up the day after the interview with a few crucial components of the letter/email:

1. Be cordial, short and sweet. Thank them for their time and efforts for vetting your candidacy.
2. Remind them of who you are by mentioning that something that made you memorable during the interview (if applicable).
3. Remind them why you are a good fit and how you are able to relieve them of their major 1-3 pain points that were mentioned in the interview (always sell yourself when communicating with hiring committees).
4. Wish them luck no matter what the outcome and that you again are available for any further conversations should they need those.

And if you received a rejection letter, here’s some advice for following up on those:
