You know you’re good at what you do.

The problem?

Your resume doesn’t make that obvious.

This is one of the biggest frustrations I see with executives and senior-level professionals.

They’ve spent 15, 20, sometimes 30+ years building an impressive career.

They’ve led teams.

Grown revenue.

Fixed broken operations.

Managed multimillion-dollar budgets.

Built departments.

Navigated acquisitions.

Led transformations.

Then I look at their resume and see:

“Responsible for managing…”

😬

That’s the disconnect.

FRUSTRATION: “I know I’ve accomplished a lot, but I don’t know how to communicate it.”

DESIRE: “I want a resume that immediately shows employers why I’m different.”

FEAR: “What if my career has plateaued and I’ve gone as far as I’m going to go?”

Your experience probably isn’t the problem.

Your POSITIONING might be.

An executive resume shouldn’t read like a historical record of everything you’ve ever done.

It should answer a much more important question:

Why should someone hire YOU for the next role?

That means identifying the accomplishments that matter.

Quantifying impact wherever possible.

Connecting seemingly unrelated experiences.

Eliminating the fluff.

And creating a clear leadership narrative around where you’re headed next.

Because “managed a team” isn’t the story.

What happened because YOU managed that team?

“Responsible for operations” isn’t the story.

What did YOU improve?

And “strategic leader” certainly isn’t the story.

What did you actually LEAD?

That’s the work I love doing with clients.

Sometimes I’ll ask a question about something buried in their career history and they’ll casually tell me about a $20 million initiative, a turnaround, a massive cost savings, or a transformation they led.

And I’ll say:

“THAT! Why the hell isn’t THAT on your resume?” šŸ˜‚

They’ve been so close to their own careers for so long that they don’t always recognize what’s impressive anymore.

MJW Takeaway:

If you’re struggling to articulate your value, don’t automatically assume you don’t HAVE enough value.

You may simply be telling the wrong story.

Your career hasn’t necessarily plateaued.

Your messaging might have.

And that’s something we can fix.

Your future career isn’t random—it’s reverse-engineered by smart planning today. šŸ”§šŸ’Ŗ Ready to start mapping yours? āœļø Want help making yours stand out?
