I’ll never forget walking into that shop as a wide-eyed 9-year-old and spotting THE card 🔥 — the 1980 Topps Rickey Henderson rookie.

💵 Price tag? $350.
👨‍👦 Dad’s response? A firm “no”…but a few wax packs instead.
📦 And let’s be honest — that little stack of mystery cardboard still made my day.

Fast forward to 2025…
🎥 I’m scrolling and see a trading card influencer pop into Talkin’ Baseball — same place, same sign, same magic.

So what’d I do? Heart racing as I scroll for more research to see what’s good at the first card shop I ever visited…

🧵 I made a tribute shirt on Canva.
📸 I pulled up old memories.
🎯 And I finally made good on that kid’s dream…

✅ Rickey Henderson rookie: bought with my son Gus at a show this year.
✅ Joe Montana rookie: scooped at a local shop a few weeks later (also picked up Jack’s rookie on the same day!)

📦 Now Gus and I rip packs, build teams and player sets, and chase holy grails together.

It’s more than a hobby — it’s a connection.
It’s cardboard…but it’s also a lot of heart. 🧡🤎
