What If Your ‘Lucky Break’ Is Actually Holding You Back?

Sunday night. ☘️

Laptop open.
Bank statement on the screen.

Netflix.
Groceries.
Spotify.

Then you see it.

$79 gym membership.

You haven’t gone in months.

Instead of canceling…

You open the gym’s website.
Check the class schedule.
Screenshot the yoga times.
Plan next week’s workouts.

Why?

Psychologists call this Commitment Bias.

Once we make a decision, we want to stay consistent with it.

Even if the decision isn’t working.

Being that it’s 🍀 St. Patrick’s Day, let’s chat how we all grow up chasing “luck” most of the time.

Lucky breaks.
Lucky jobs.
Lucky timing.

But most people aren’t stuck because they lack luck…

They’re stuck because they’re clinging to old decisions like they’re four-leaf clovers they don’t want to let go of.

Careers follow the same pattern.

Someone stays in a job they’ve outgrown because they already invested 8… 10… 15 years.

Leaving feels like admitting those years were wasted.

So they hold on.

Tighter.

Like it’s their “lucky spot.”

But here’s the truth:

Those years weren’t wasted.
They were training. ☘️

And luck?

It’s not something you find.

It’s something you create when you’re willing to move.

Because sometimes the smartest move isn’t doubling down on the same path…

It’s having the courage to reposition—even if it feels like you’re letting go of your “luck.”

And ironically…

That’s usually when things start going your way.
