๐Ÿ“ I came across this fascinating article by the team over at Axios about how your next interview could be with a robot.

Looking for a job can be hard, but if you’re a tech-savvy candidate, your next interview could be with artificial intelligence.

Job interviews can be stressful enough without having to worry about tech-savvy robots. But soon the two may become increasingly difficult to distinguish. Employers are increasingly using automation technology to evaluate candidates, and recruiters predict that it’ll become the norm within a decade. In addition to saving time and money, hiring robots could even help prevent bias among human interviewers.

And as the use of AI in business is on the rise, so too is the increasing popularity of robots to manage those businesses. While many have been using robots for some time now, itโ€™s likely you never considered an interview with one at a Fortune 500 company. After all, your job is to get hired and landed by a humanโ€ฆright?

Some quick recap of the article:

  • Automated interviews vastly expand the job candidate pool and are designed to ensure consistent hiring practices by rooting out ways that bias seeps into interviews, recruiters say. But job applicants complain they’re dehumanizing and stressful.
  • Recruiters have been using artificial intelligence for a while to automate candidate searches or screen resumes, for example.
  • Candidates are evaluated not just on their answers to the interviewer’s questions, but sometimes also on their facial expressions, intonation, and word choice.
  • Someone looking for a new job might scan a QR code on a hiring poster Saturday night, kicking off a chatbot conversation about their experience and an invitation to apply with a video interview on Sunday. “You can complete the entire application process before work starts Monday morning โ€” all while your interest is high.”
